API testing service

A browser-based service for finding and executing API tests, generating sample payloads and supporting release workflows.

Earlier professional workApplication engineeringAT&T tenure · May 2014–December 2017

The system at a glance.

A conceptual view of the flow and its boundaries.

The challenge.

Developers, testers and operations needed access to API testing capabilities through a common interface.

My contribution.

Worked as a subject-matter expert on Java/Spring services, AngularJS screens, database integration and production support.

Implementation.

  • Built browser views and Spring components for test selection and execution.
  • Developed data access, database procedures, connection pooling and batch processing.
  • Built Selenium-based application checks and supported testing infrastructure and releases.

Design decisions.

Individual test execution and batch processing need different user feedback and failure handling.

Reusable service and data-access patterns keep enhancements understandable across teams.

Validation.

JUnit, Selenium-based checks, UAT support and release validation supported the service.

The outcome.

Provided a common interface around API test execution and supporting development tools.

Explore the pattern.

The companion repository is an independent educational demonstration built with synthetic examples. It illustrates related engineering patterns and does not contain employer source code or production data. Repositories are currently private; please contact me for access.
