Communication services

Python APIs, configurable event routing, and channel adapters connecting enterprise messaging systems.

The system at a glance.

A conceptual view of the flow and its boundaries.

The challenge.

Transactional requests arrive from different producers and need a consistent validation, audit, and routing layer before channel-specific systems can act on them.

My contribution.

Worked on Python service development, API integration, event contracts, infrastructure, and delivery workflows across the communication platform.

Implementation.

  • Validate transactional payloads and archive incoming requests by source and date for auditability.
  • Identify event types and resolve subscriber destinations from DynamoDB configuration.
  • Use SNS/SQS boundaries to decouple ingestion from email, SMS, and push adapters.
  • Integrate OAuth-authenticated services and template-specific communication policy components.

Design decisions.

Configuration-driven hub routing separates subscriber changes from producer implementations, while some source-specific routes still require code changes.

Synchronous policy lookups add dependencies and latency; behavior also depends on environment feature flags.

Validation.

Unit tests and acceptance scenarios cover request validation, event routing and integration boundaries.

The outcome.

Connected multiple event producers and communication channels through a common integration architecture.

Explore the pattern.

The companion repository is an independent educational demonstration built with synthetic examples. It illustrates related engineering patterns and does not contain employer source code or production data. Repositories are currently private; please contact me for access.
