Developer tooling

Python and Node.js generators that scaffold service code, infrastructure, configuration, and CI pipelines.

The system at a glance.

A conceptual view of the flow and its boundaries.

The challenge.

New services repeatedly need the same execution patterns, environment configuration, logging integration, infrastructure layout, and delivery scaffolding.

My contribution.

Worked across code generation, reusable service conventions, and developer-facing automation for serverless and batch workloads.

Implementation.

  • Generate Python Lambda processor projects with execution context, logging, and event-publishing patterns.
  • Render environment-specific Terraform backend/variable files and Concourse pipeline definitions.
  • Support interactive Node.js/Yeoman generators for APIs, batch services, and Hub processors.
  • Use isolated temporary directories and mock boundaries to verify Python generator behavior.

Design decisions.

A standard-library Python generator minimizes installation dependencies; Node/Yeoman provides a separate interactive scaffolding path.

Template regeneration can overwrite local edits, so generated code still requires review and normal service ownership.

Validation.

Generator tests use temporary directories and mocked boundaries to check rendering and argument handling.

The outcome.

Turned recurring implementation patterns into reusable starting points for application teams.
